The Venice Briccole are solid oak poles driven into the seabed of the Venetian lagoon, used to mark waterways and delimit navigable areas. Each briccola remains immersed for years, exposed to the tides, brackish water, and marine organisms (particularly the teredo navalis, known locally as ‘bisa’). This natural process sculpts the wood, leaving visible marks, holes, engravings, and unique colors.

When retired from service, these storied timbers are reborn as flooring of deep symbolic and historic value. Each plank is unique, carrying the marks of time and the soul of Venice within its grain.
